HOAN Enhances Salt Spray Testing for Marine Vibration Isolators

As demand from marine and offshore customers continues to grow, Xi'an HOAN Microwave Co., Ltd. has further strengthened its in-house salt spray testing capability. The laboratory will carry out periodic corrosion-resistance evaluations across all HOAN vibration isolator series, providing additional verification for products used in shipboard and other harsh operating environments.

In-House Salt Spray Capability

Rather than relying only on third-party testing, HOAN uses its own salt spray chamber to regularly evaluate production samples during product development and quality control. Different vibration isolator series are selected for scheduled corrosion testing to monitor material performance, surface treatment quality and manufacturing consistency.

This capability was introduced to better support customers in the marine and shipbuilding industries, where long-term exposure to humidity and salt spray places higher demands on metal components.

Test Parameters & Validation

HOAN performs neutral salt spray testing with reference to internationally recognized corrosion testing methods, including ASTM B117 and ISO 9227 (NSS). For products intended for demanding environments, the company also considers the environmental durability principles described in MIL-STD-810.

A previous verification test exposed samples for 200 hours under controlled conditions using a 40–60 g/L sodium chloride solution, 35 ±2°C chamber temperature, 6.5–7.2 pH, and relative humidity above 85% RH. Samples were inspected and photographed after 48, 96, 150 and 200 hours. The final inspection found no visible surface corrosion, confirming the sample met the acceptance criteria.

Marine Application Coverage

HOAN will continue to perform periodic salt spray evaluations on wire rope isolators, friction damping isolators, elastomer vibration mounts and assembled vibration isolators. Test data supports product verification for marine electrical cabinets, communication equipment, monitoring systems and other shipboard applications where corrosion resistance is essential.

By combining routine environmental testing with vibration and shock verification, HOAN provides customers with more reliable vibration isolation solutions for long-term operation in corrosive environments.
